Frequently Asked Questions (Please note that these conditions may also apply to hires, school formals, corporate bookings, etc)
1.When are the Drive tours held and how far in-advance do I need to book?
Normally, the drive tours are held on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Due to popularity, it is recommended that you book at least a month in advance particularly for Saturdays.
2.What are the payment options – can I provide a deposit?
A 20% deposit is required to reserve a place for a drive tour. Full payment required before tour is commenced
3.How can I organise a gift voucher?
Rent a Dream Car provides open-dated or preselected date gift-vouchers, which are valid for a period of 6 months from purchase. These can be paid for in full by credit card, paypal or direct bank deposit.
4.What are the age requirements to participate?
Each driver must be at least 30 years of age . There is an insurance surcharge for drivers from 25- 30 years of age.
5.Will I be driving by myself?
It depends on the size of the group. You might be driving alone, sharing with another guest, or with one of our staff
6.Can I bring a passenger with me? How much?
Yes, however there is an additional cost to bring along a passenger . This means that you’ll also receive double the amount of driving time and will be partnered exclusively together. Costs for passengers are $100 to $200 less than the driver price.
7.How much driving time does each driver get?
Driving time is shared across all cars on the drive tour. Should a non-driving passenger wish to accompany a driver then the nominated driver will drive for the entire experience. Please note that if you attend by yourself, you will be partnered with another guest during the experience and share the drive time. Please note we have three different drives tours with varying drive times.
8.Do I need to be proficient driving a manual transmission?
Yes, you’ll need to proficient driving a manual transmission and have a manual (open) driving license to enjoy driving all of the different models. Only one of our cars can be driven as an automatic which is available for hire if you are not confident driving a manual.
9.What should I bring and what should I wear on the drive day?
Depending upon the particular climate, you will need to wear clothes that are comfortable to drive in, but do not cause damage to any interior components – particularly leather upholstery. Please ensure that you remove any jewellery such as rings or bracelets that could damage the upholstery. We recommend that you bring sunglasses, sun hat, sunscreen, and narrow-soled footwear to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
10.What happens if bad weather is forecasted such as showers, storms, high winds or heat?
If severe weather is predicted, Rent a Dream Car may postpone or cancel a drive tour. We will postpone any drive-experience if there is heavy rain, gail-force winds, or hail. You will not get the best experience in bad weather and it is dangerous. Note that drives may also be cancelled if there are mechanical problems with any of the cars. In the event of a cancellation, or reschedule by Rent A Dream Car you will be offered a credit voucher valid for 6 months to come back and enjoy this experience.
11.What happens if the Drive Day is postponed?
A series of alternative dates will be offered for you to select from at your convenience. Please note that Rent a Deam Car will not be held responsible for any additional costs incurred as a result of cancelling or postponing a drive-experience due to weather. In any the of a cancellation, or reschedule by Rent A Dream Car you will be offered a credit voucher valid for 6 months to come back and enjoy this experience.

13.Can I re-schedule or cancel my Drive-Day and if so, how much notice must I provide?
Yes for a $20 admin fee you can re-schedule your drive-day provided you notify Rent a Dream Car more than 14 days prior to your scheduled date. Any requests to reschedule, or cancel less than 14-days before the tour date will incur an administration fee of $220.00. If you cancel your drive less than 48 hrs before your drive there is no refund. Please note that this condition also applies to pre-booked hires, school formals, corporate bookings, etc. Please note that this fee will also apply in the event that you are unable to return to complete an experience at a later time. we generally offer a 6 month reschedule option.
14.Can we join the group along the drive, even though we’re not participating?
Yes, you’re more than welcome to follow or meet us along the route at our predetermined stops.
15.What does the maximum ‘at-fault’ liability of $7.5k mean and how does it apply? Can I pay extra to have it waived or reduced?
There is no additional charge for insurance for all Drive-Day experiences, however a maximum ‘at-fault’ liability of $7,500 applies if you are responsible for causing an accident and any resulting damage. This liability may be reduced to $5,000 (by payment of $250 ), but cannot be waived entirely. Please note that guests are not required to provide a bond in order to participate. Some credit cards have a hire car insurance built in to them, check with your bank.
16.How fast can we go?
We drive on public roads so all normal speed limits and road rules apply. Please note that this is not a track-based or competitive event. However we do some twisty bits where we do get to test the cars capabilities
17.Can I use a mobile phone on the day?
Yes, you will need to bring a mobile phone with you on the day. Please ensure that it is charged and on, but do not use it whilst driving.
18.What are the weight and height restrictions?
Guests must be under 130kg and no taller than 6.5 feet (198 cm). If you are concerned about these limits please contact us.
19.Can I drink alcohol the night before? Will I be breath-tested?
Yes, providing that it is only a small quantity. It is important to note that you may be breath-tested prior to the commencement of the drive experience, and any blood alcohol concentration (BAC) reading other than ZERO will result in immediate termination and forfeiture of your experience, without refund or exception.
20.Where are you?
We are based at the Surfers Paradise. Drive tours leave from Bruce Bishop parking building, Beach Rd, Surfers Paradise. Pay parking is available for your own vehicles in this carpark.
21.If I’ve lost my licence in the last five years, can I drive?
No, you will need to possess a complete and valid drivers licence, which has been held for a period longer than 5 years.
22.Can I drive if I have an international drivers licence?
If you have an overseas driver’s licence, you’ll need to have an international drivers permit that is approved by the Australian Roads and Traffic Authority and is written in English.
23. Do I have to do all the parts of my couples package on the same day.
No. You can spread them out over your stay.
24. Can I hire the cars for different lengths than those listed.

25. Can I book just a passenger seat?
Yes but be aware you may be teamed up with someone you do not know.
